This trauma doesn’t disappear when they arrive; it can affect their home, education, and work life, and without proper mental health support, it can lead to even more serious problems than losing their jobs or dropping out of school.

Introducing Dr. Ryan J Hulbert, Ph.D
To support our learners’ mental health needs, Inmersivo Learning Systems has partnered with Dr. Ryan J. Hulbert, Ph.D., a psychologist with extensive experience. Together, we organize online webinars and provide valuable resources to help our students succeed both in their studies and at work. Ryan J. Hulbert, Ph.D., is a licensed psychologist with over 40 years of experience as a substance abuse and mental health provider. He has created an online resource library as part of his passion for helping people build resilience to emotional problems and substance abuse. Among these resources—books, videos, self-assessments, and mini-courses—the most popular item is a small book entitled Drivers’ Ed for the Brain. In the last seven years, it has been translated into 18 languages. In the spring of 2023, the Idaho Department of Corrections contracted to use the book in 10 of their 12 facilities to help inmates reduce stress and trauma and build resilience.
Dr. Hulbert served as a staff psychologist and Director of Research at the Cherokee Mental Health Institute in Cherokee, Iowa, from 1988 to 1993. He was the Chief Psychologist of BPA Behavioral Health for eight years and the Clinical Services Administrator for the Idaho Department of Juvenile Corrections from 2001 to 2009. In 2010, he assisted in the initial program development for the Management & Training Corporation’s Correctional Alternative Placement Program (CAPP) in Idaho. Beginning in 2015, he taught psychology courses as an adjunct faculty member at Boise State University.
He is the author of several articles in professional journals, has presented numerous workshops, and has written the books The Sun Is Always Shining, Drivers’ Ed for the Brain, Growth Rings, Eternity-TimeEternity, Which Came First, The Soul or the Ego?, No Longer Settling for Half of the Rainbow, and Divine Potential: A Quest for Truth. He is also the inventor of The Support Team Game and the developer of Roots and Branches: A Multigenerational Holistic Training Program for Everyday Hero Individuals, Families, and Communities.
Dr. Hulbert has shared his book with thousands of youths, college students, and adults with very positive results. He has developed staff enrichment training, including pre- and post-assessments to measure the potential positive effects of the training on reduced stress, improved mood, and overall well-being. These assessments and training can be conducted online, in person, in small or large group settings, or through a combination of formats to meet specific needs and organizational circumstances. For example, participants have read or listened to the book in about two hours, discussed the message in small book club formats, and reviewed and discussed it in brief, fun group training, or independently online.

Every year a total of 210 students from Puerto Rico complete our Inmersivo English Program. Since our collaboration with the Puerto Rico Baseball Academy & High School, over a 1000+ Puerto-Rican students have successfully completed our English program and 97% of them have passed their FOFEL admission tests and a total of 87% are actively attending college in the United States and Puerto Rico.
93% of Latino construction workers who successfully completed our Inmersivo program have received a raise from their employers.
10% of African refugees who completed our Inmersivo program are now enrolled in college as first-generation students, while the remaining 90% continue to improve their English skills to maintain employment.
89% of Haitian learners who completed our Inmersivo Program are now pursuing higher education, including bachelor’s, master’s, or doctoral degrees.
